A Westgate timeshare presentation got me 3 nights at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa in Orlando for $95.13 net in April 2024. I paid $145.13 for the package, owed nothing at check-in, and picked up a $50 gift card after the tour. The catch: the "90-minute" presentation took me about 2.5 to 3 hours. Here's the full breakdown, plus what I'd do differently.

What I paid
I was introduced to this offer through Instagram ads boasting 3 nights in Orlando for $99, with a $50 gift card for completing the presentation. After taxes and fees, my package total was $145.13, booked on March 16, 2024.
To see what the stay is normally worth, I priced the same studio villa for comparable dates a year later (April 10-13, 2025) on Westgate's own booking site. It came to $725.61, including $158.61 in taxes and a $25.99 nightly resort fee. Since the bed was over $700 either way, I thought "why not?"
The confirmation spelled out the deal: the package price requires a 90-minute tour, and failing to attend or meet the qualifications would result in a $500 fee. Show up, and show up qualified.
Who qualifies for a Westgate preview (as of September 2026)
These are the main requirements in Westgate Reservations' current terms and conditions. Requirements vary by destination and season, so read the terms attached to your own package.
- Who: U.S. citizens who are married, engaged, cohabiting, or single women, and gainfully employed. Couples must attend together.
- Income and credit: verified household income of at least $50,000 ($60,000 for Las Vegas) and a FICO score of 600 or higher.
- Age: for couples, one partner must be 25 to 70 and the other at least 25. Single women must be 28 to 70.
- Bring: a valid driver's license or state ID, and a credit card in your own name at check-in (no prepaid cards).
- How often: two tours in a lifetime. The second can be at a different resort after 6 months, or the same destination after 12 months.
- Not eligible: Westgate owners, timeshare industry employees, and anyone who toured a Westgate resort in the past six months. Extra restrictions apply if you live within 60 miles of the resort.
- Penalty: a surcharge of up to $500 or the rental rate (whichever is greater), plus the retail cost of any discounted attraction tickets, if you don't qualify or don't finish the presentation.
The room
Westgate assigned us to Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa Orlando, conveniently close to Disney World. We stayed in a studio with a king bed, full sleeper sofa, kitchenette (microwave and mini fridge), full bath with a glass shower stall, a jetted tub, and a private balcony. The highlight? Actually using the jetted tub. It was surprisingly nice.
The big perk: zero taxes or resort fees were due at check-in. Westgate's current resort fee policy still waives resort fees on preview-rate stays.
The preview center, presentation, and tour
The tour was at the Westgate Preview Center, a separate section on the south side of the resort that you drive to or take a shuttle to. We showed our IDs and were taken to the breakfast bar. Breakfast was disappointing: cereal, packaged muffins, danishes, eggs, sausage, and "roasted" potatoes that were far from appetizing. By the time we left they were serving lunch, chili cheese hot dogs, which were way better. I would know, because I grabbed two on the way out.
The presentation itself wasn't overly high-pressure, but it ran much longer than the promised 90 minutes. My rookie mistake was not setting an alarm, and the whole thing stretched to about 2.5 to 3 hours. Part of it was a golf cart ride to a nearby condo building, billed as the resort's quietest, to see a quaint pool and one of the condos. That portion eats up time, and once you're on the golf cart you're committed until it's over, so try to get it done early.
After we declined the initial offer, the "closer" stepped in, followed by the "guy from corporate," who offered a sampler package: a cheaper, short-term timeshare trial for a couple thousand dollars. We turned that down too.
The gift and final cost
At the end of the tour we received a $50 gift card, bringing our out-of-pocket cost from $145.13 down to $95.13 for 3 nights in Orlando. Our guest statement at checkout showed a $0.00 balance. Against the $725.61 normal price, that's about 87% off.
Westgate runs other combinations of price and gifts too. These are two Westgate Lakes offers I saw advertised: one with Treasure Cove water park tickets, one with a $100 gift card.
The resort itself
Westgate Lakes is a sprawling property with plenty of amenities. One standout is the Treasure Cove Water Park, with wave pools, waterslides, splash pads, and lazy rivers. It isn't included in your stay, though; you'll pay extra for access unless your package includes tickets.
Tips if you book a Westgate preview
- Set an alarm. Stick to the 90-minute timeline by politely excusing yourself when it goes off.
- Do the golf cart tour early. It can significantly extend your time commitment.
- Expect multiple offers. A "closer" and a "corporate guy" will each try a different pitch. If you're not interested, stay firm.
- Check the qualifications before you pay. The penalty for not qualifying is far more than the package costs.
If you're organized and can handle a few hours of sales pitches, a Westgate timeshare presentation is a great way to get a resort stay for a fraction of the price.
