About
The answers Google couldn't give you, until now. Who writes Figured It Out, how posts are researched, and how affiliate links and corrections are handled.
Hi! My name is Chris and welcome to Figured-it-out.com. This website was born because I wanted a space to index previously unindexed information and data on the internet.
Every day, people discover solutions to problems that others might also face, but unless it's written down, nobody else can benefit from that learning. This site is dedicated to those things which have been figured out, and to sharing those insights with the world.
What you'll find here
- Royal Caribbean: crew pay and hours, automatic gratuities, onboard games, cabin TV tricks
- FlowRider: mixed-wave sessions and choosing a first flowboard
- Timeshare presentations: what each preview package cost, what the gift was worth, and the fine print
- Travel: airport lounges, cruise terminal tipping, travel offers and what they really include
- Saving money and food: bill negotiation, clearance markdowns, price matching, cost-per-pound experiments
- Technology: cruise Wi-Fi, travel routers, iMessage at sea, USB switches, EV charging
- Legal: small claims and consumer complaints from real cases
How posts are written
- First-hand. Most posts are based on something I did, bought, attended, measured or negotiated myself. The rest are built on primary documents, like pay stubs or schedules, that are shown in the post.
- Dated. Prices, policies and programs change. Posts say when something happened, and a post shows an "updated" date when its facts have been rechecked or revised.
- Sourced. When a post relies on a company's policy or a published rule, it links to the official source.
- Corrected in the open. If something is wrong or out of date, tell me and I'll fix it and update the post's date.
Affiliate links
Some posts link to products on Amazon. Figured It Out is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, so as an Amazon Associate it earns from qualifying purchases made through those links, at no extra cost to you. A small number of posts include a credit card referral link, which is labeled where it appears. Affiliate relationships never change what a post says.
